Sep. 23, 1998 I have had a number of reports with problems installing and/or running WinNonlin on Win95 machines. I have been able to track down the cause(s) to one or both of the following scenarios. The problems usually show up on Win95 systems which are fairly clean, i.e. they haven't had many other applications (esp. MS apps) installed on top of the original OS. The first problem that may occur is that you'll receive an error during installation that one or two OCX files cannot be registered. This error is caused by problems with the Automation (formerly called OLE Automation) libraries installed on your system. I have included in this directory a file called OADIST.EXE which, when run, will install the most recent Automation libraries onto your system. The second problem may show up when you try to run the application. You'll receive an error message about being unable to load a DLL (or something to that effect - I think it's error 48). The problem here is that all of the MS Visual C Runtime library files are not present on the system. I have also included on a self-extracting file called MSCVRT.EXE which contains the necessary runtime libraries as well as a text file describing their installation. If you have to install either of these files then you should reboot the machine prior to trying to run WinNonlin (any version). You can install the files before or after WinNonlin and the application should work in either case. **************************************************************************** Jeffrey W.
